KAFKA-FRAGMENTE

Kurtág's piece for violin and soprano in a version with live video picturing Kafka's drawings
2022-2024

‘Kafka-Fragmente’ combines György Kurtág’s most improbable composition for solo violin and soprano with an animation of some of Kafka’s sketchy drawings, revealed to the public only in 2021.

From a certain point on, there is

no going back.
That is the point to reach.

FRANZ KAFKA

Above a few pictures from the premiere and rehearsal, below a  few examples of Kafka's drawings used in associations with Kurtág.

"Kafka and Kurtág, who (or what) do you need more to experience an exceptional concert? Darkness and essence everywhere. A dark stage, black-clad performers, enigmatic drawings projected on a screen, a violinist and a soprano performing Kafka-Fragmente."
Roger Creyf, klassiek centraal, 10.10.2022
